    Mixing Oil viscosities?

Are any negative side effects to mixing oil viscosities?? Such as if I'm low on oil (5w-30) and I pour in some 10w-30.

There is no negative effect. Mobil state on their Mobil1 site that all formulations of Mobil1 are miscible with one another, and further they are all compatible with any other API oil. No harm done.

If you're really interested you can do a little searching and figure out the correct math to get a decent estimate of the final mixtures effective viscosity either cold or at operating temperature. I've never been that interested... I used to mix M1 5W-30 or 10W-30 with 15W-50 all the time in my Subaru, and now mix 5W-20, 0W-40, and 5W-40 in anything I own depending on what's on the shelf closest in the garage if I need to top off etc. It's not a problem.
