Honestly just some basic things.
A good set of snow tires would be idea. If not then a great set of all seaons should work fine.
I also recommend putting the following in the trunk:
A blanket
A small shovel (the ones that fold into themselfs)
Washer fluid
2-3 Energry Bars
Some water (yes it will freeze)
A rope (doesnt have to be tow rope but something that will put up with a few tugs)
And possible a small bag of salt (5 lbs bag) to put down if she really get's stuck
Honestly most of that stuff is way over kill. And if she's living on campus then it's really all pretty moot becasue if weather is that bad she wont have to drive.
The main thing is just experiance in driving in the bad weather. If you have a chance take her into an empty parking lot and have her do some braking, turning, acceleration, braking/turning etc in some wet stuff or snow.
0-60 faster then your first sexual experience.

I had a can of de-icer in my room. That came in handy once or twice when I didn't have remote entry.
New wiperblades. Also, learning to clean your wiper blades while driving is a helpful tip - roll down window, and as wiper comes up to left side of windshield, lift it and let it fall back onto the windshield (this will cause ice/snow that's packed on to get broken off).
Because of the AWD, snow tires aren't necessary, but there is a night/day difference between A/S and dedicated snows. I know college is expensive, but if you can swing the $$ for snow tires, it would be beneficial to her.
This was crucial when I was in college - the snow plows would clear the parking lot, but there'd be 3' of wet packed snow from the salt they put down and the plow discharge. I can't tell you how important this isOriginally Posted by 302@12psi
Just make sure it's got the temperature rating to handle NE winters.Originally Posted by 302@12psi
Also, give her an empty yogurt container or something to scoop/toss with.Originally Posted by 302@12psi
