Road trippin'......Advice?

In a couple weeks I will be embarking on a road trip of just under 2,000mi. Can you guys give me any tips on how to prepare my vehicle for such a journey?

Here’s what I plan on doing thus far:

*Check all fluids
*Tire pressure -I’m gonna go a little higher for better fuel economy
*Under-car visual inspection -Make sure nothing looks like it’s about to fall off

I realize that assuming my car is properly maintained to begin with, it shouldn’t need to do anything before driving a long distance in a short time. But, just for my own piece of mind, what would you do if you were in my place?

I often road trip 1200 miles and before doing so I:

--Change the oil
chances are I'll be over the 3,000 mile mark at one point or another

--Check both air filters (cabin and engine) and replace as necessary

--Check the tranny fluid and be mindful of my replacement interval

--Check coolant and be mindful of my replacement interval.

--rotate the tires and inspect for abnormalities

--Check tire pressure and maybe inflate a little for added MPG

--make sure I have my roadside readiness kit with me (Justincase, tire plugs, a few crucial hand tools)

--Inspect spare tire.

--throw in a case of water

--Check all boost hoses

use blue painters tape to tape up your front bumper to avoid any damage =)

Thanks for the input Jeremy. All my service intervals are good, I'll be just under 60k when I get back so I'll do that service shortly after the trip. I'll be sure to add air filter and boost hoses to my check list.

I wouldn't do anything other than normal - make sure fluids and pressure are up to tops. I don't rotate tires or change fluids unless they are due for it. Road trips are actually easy easy miles for your car in most cases.
