Dead AC Question? expansion valve 2002 wrx

    2002 WRX Wagon Dead AC

    2005 dealer replaced expansion value.
2006 Replaced top high pressure hose due to leaks.

Now my AC is dead again. When the AC went out I smelled something funny in the car right at the time it died. I took out the dash and found the Expansion Value covered with sticky oiliy stuff. Is this a indication that the part failed?

When I tried to charge the system to get the compressor to kick on I noticed oil slightly leaking from the joint between the new high pressure hose and the compresser its self. I hope this is due to a leak. In the fall when this happened i did get the compessor to kick on. Last month i was unable to get to kick on. I did stop the test until i was able to get a popor set of gages.

    Any help would be great!

    Many thanks

    djart

that sticky stuff is refrigerant oil. it seems your exp valve or at least the o-rings have been leaking. change yo shiz! or take it back for a warranty on that!
