Has anyone successfully changed out the fuel filter out of an 05+??

Ugghhh...been collecting parts for my 60K maintenance and everything seems fairly straight forward except this. After reading and researching there seems to be a debate on whether this is a serviceable part or not. I really don't want to dig around the gas tank and pull the pump just to get to this part. Has anyone done this? Tips? Thanks everyone

What is the summary of what youre changing at 60k?
Just remember, capitalization and punctuation marks the difference between, "I just helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse." and, "i just helped my uncle jack off a horse"

As usual, scoobymods.com has a great thread on this:

They moved them to the back. Now we have to remove the rear seat and go in from the top of the tank. Dont make any sparks now

    Not tooooo much:

    Inspect the following:
    Drive Belts
    Camshaft belt
    Fuel system
    Transmission / Diff fluids
    Brakes
    Clutch

    Replace or perform:
    Oil / filter
    Coolant
    Fuel Filter
    Air Cleaner
    Brake Fluid
    Spark plugs

I'm goning to go ahead and change out the manual trans and diff fluid along with the brake pads. After choking nearly half to death for forking over nearly $500 for the 30K....I thought I'd take this one. Everything is very doable and easy except the fuel filter looks to be very involved.

Thanks for the reply wrx wagone The scoobymods thread is exactly what got me nervous in the first place. I thought I'd post over here rather than NASIOC since I spend all my time over here lurking at your guys tutorials...which is very nice BTW. Any tips on how long this takes? Any trouble while performing this service?...etc..

I mean this is insane ^ this pic alone is very intimidating. After some research I found a few posts debating whether or not this was really necessary at 60K....but I guess i'm just trying to find any excuse to NOT to do this service.
