Check engine and Cruise control lights.

    Hello,
I own 2006 WRX TR, with 41.000 most highway miles on it.
Day before yesterday I start my car at the morning and I had feeling that it's not running the way it should, later on Check Engine and Cruise Control lights come up on the dashboard cluster. Feels like car ignition got retarded plus rpm wasn't steady as well.
What I did, is take one battery terminal off, then put it back.
Lights are disappeared right after, and since then didn't come up.
Just wondering if it has something to do with previous night when I came to the gas station and fill up my tank. It was unusual fuel delivery, very slow, the guy ask me to move my car to next pump, but still very slow, I wasn't next to my car when it finished, and not sure if he properly install the fuel tank cap. Can be something to do with it?
    Thanks in advance guys,
    Alex

What's the CEL code (Autozone will allow you to pull it)?

the guy @ subaru told me when my check engine light turned on that the crusie light turns on as well. I just bought my Sti from a chevy dealer (used trade in) and it had an HKS exhaust on it and after market cat. The cat apparntly was no good any more so the nice chevy dealer has to replace the entire exhaust. lol. not saying thats your problem. i would go to autozone or subaru and have em plug in a diagnostic...

    tnx for reply guys.
$45 just a pull the code, or pull and flash out?
    ---------------------------------------------
Ok, after I disconnect the battery and turn CEL off, it did come up again in just 48 hours. Guess, I didn't flash the code of ECU permanent.
Well, guess I am going to get myself a tool to read and flash the code.
I always try to avoid to bring my car to mechanic and do as most is possible myself.
Does any one have a suggestion what is a good tool (to pull and flash the code) and also what is the procedure, where the diagnostic outlet, etc.
    Thanks in advance guys.

Just bring it to Autozone or a similar store and they'll read it for free.

Just an update, to close this topic.
CEL, went off several days after my previous post.
I did nothing, just by itself.

    CEL And CC light

I ran into this problem about 2 months back also, check gas cap and everything and it wasn;t the problem... turns out it was a crimped wire in my system evap control... if you drive it during winter, i was told that salt would get in there because it is right beright the passenger rear tire.

I have an '06 WRX that just hit 36,000 miles and I got the check engine light along with the cruise control light blinking. I installed a K&N Typhoon a few months back, I'm guessing it's something with the MAF. Gonna stop by AutoZone after work tonight and get the code. They say the K&N rechargable cone filters last "up" to 100,000 miles so I doubt it's dirty already... It's been on for about 6 months. I'm assuming a dirty filter could screw with the MAF readings?

Is that a faulty MAF reading?
