Idles wierd all of a sudden

    2002 wrx
    had 60k service done.
    have 67k on it now
Engine idle surges up and down between 700- 1100 after warmed up.
won't settle down. Up and down.
When I start it in am it revs at 2000 rpm for a while.

Now I've never had a Turbo car before but if this happened in one of my old v8 cars I would say it was a vac leak.

    No check engine light either.

    Thoughts?

    Sooo,

Can the MAF be cleaned on this car?

The MAF on my old corvette could be removed and cleaned.

    It was easy.

Or just go to Radio Shack and pick up some electronics spray cleaner. Same stuff.

    OK.

Went to parts store, got the CRC and cleaned MAF.

    That did the trick!

Idle back to normal, no surging up and down and generally seems to run better.

    Thanks!

I have the same idling problem when i'm driving and coming to a stop, in neutral or with the clutch in.
the rpm seems to jump up and down for a second

is this due to a dirty MAF also?

I'm no expert on these cars but that's what mine was doing when I originally posted and the MAF cleaning cleared it up.

It's a very good place to start. I'd do that, first.
