    engine oil vanished.

can anyone tell me what is wrong with my '03 wrx.
After i change my oil about 1-3 months later check the dipstick
and was below the "L" almost to the tip. But no "NO OIL" light comes on.
Yes i parked the car 15-20 minutes before checking.
the only mod is the catback , but the oil issue happened even before i slap the catback on.
I drove to work and from work at mostly 30 lows- 75 highs at highways.
check under the car for leaks but none was found nor any foul smell.
check for the blue exhaust smoke but nothing either.

Anyone have a good idea to what happen to those oil?.

It's normal. They burn about a quart every 3000 miles... Some cars (M3's for example) are known for burning a lot more before oil changes. But in your case, everything sounds normal. Just add a little between each oil change...

I highly recommend checking your oil before "1-3 months later" comes around. I check mine weekly, depending on mileage driven. It's very common for turbo charged vehicles to consume oil between oil changes. Your job is to maintain a healthy amount of oil in the engine so your car stays happier longer. Enjoy!

Try a synthetic motor oil. I live in a hot climate and had issues with dino oil breaking down and being 1/2-1 qt low after 3000 miles. Since I made the switch to Mobil 1 5w30, at 3-5k miles there is 0 fluid loss.

I used to put in synthetic mobil 1 the expensive kind, recently i decide to
use royal purple synthetics with a mobil 1 oil filter plus lucus lub oil.
I change even before the 3k miles, but oil keeps runing dry.

Are you talking the really thick lucas stuff?

    This stuff?
    http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...tid=2&loc=show

If so thats your problem, that stuff is thicker than glue. Also depending on what year Wrx you have, Royal Purple is not recommended by Subaru, and I know Lucas is not recommended by either Subaru or Royal Purple. You may have been fine with just RP but I think the Lucas killed you.

    Oil TSB for 2006+ Subarus

I fear with the lucas being so thick you may have damaged the seals in your tubocharger and the oil is "vanishing" in liquid form out your exhaust system through the DP and into the catalytic converter.

    or

The PCV is spitting it back into the Intake track and your air inlet tube and intercooler are filled with oil.

You may have opened a whole can-o-worms here.

My advice to you now, is to do a compression check on your cylinders to help rule out serious engine damage. Compression in each cylinder should be 120psi+.

    I have a 2002 WRX
Bought new and after my usual break in proceedure I switch to Mobil 1.

I have close to ZERO oil consumption and I still check regularly.

At 68k miles car actually runs better now than the first 20k miles.

I run Mobil 1 in all my vehicles:
    GMC truck
    Wife's Audi
    WRX
    Street warrior corvette.

    As for Lucas additive:

I wouldn't put ANYTHING Lucas makes in my vehicles.

Mobil 1 5W-30 since 6600 miles. No discernable amount of oil consumption here.
