Any moving and lubricated part can be harmed by low oil level, including components in the heads like the cams and the valve components. However, there is no way of knowing any of this is a problem with your motor without examining the motor.So, the short block is the only part that might possibly be harmed from the low oil level? (Forgive me for my low mechanical knowledge level...)
