    If you are interested in switching weights on your oil, I would suggest leaving the cold weight (start-up) at 5. Most engine wear is on start-up and the lighter weight oil will be safer. You'll be ok going with 5W-40 or something more like that.

    Very good advise. Always follow the owner's manual.

    But generally, 5w and 10w30 are both ok...depending on your area of the country, and the time of the season.
