I have seen several of these types of tests. the problem I have with them is it only takes filter area into consideration. While this is a factor, the type of media is just as big a player and noone can test this at home. How fine of a particle will it filter? How efficiently does it filter? Just like air filters the media makes a difference.I can agree the remainder of the internal constructio is important though and this portion of their science project can be quite useful.

THat same test has been posted all over this forum many, many times.

Yeah, your point is well taken about just looking at the internal question. But his conclusions are right in line with the SAE flow and filtration tests.

The author did make note of the type of filter media. Paper or Synthetic. Save for the difference between the two media types, I highly doubt there is much difference in filtering ability between similar filter media.
