    air compressors, need suggestions

ok, so i've got the tool/mechanic bug, and now i want to do everything to my car. absolutely everything. now.

but i need air tools to get me goin faster, so i was wonderin whats the best deal for one of those things? im not talking about the cheap emergency battery powered ones that don't pump worth a ****, but the real air compressors, that i can attach all those cool thingys too and when i take off my wheels the wrench makes that cool sound like those pit crews make at the races.

Here's everything you wanted to know about buying an air compressor:

This guy is active on the MGA list I belong to, and does the Chicaoglands MG club web site and tech sessions. he has 250 pages of tech articles on his web site, along with trips everywhere. He took his 40+ year old MGA to the north tip of Alaska a few years ago! He knows his stuff, even if he is quite opinionated.

How much do you want to spend?
My personal set up is a single stage, oil less, 25 gallon upright that can push 6.2 CFM @ 90 PSI... cost $250ish
Sears has all kinds of neat junk...

http://www.sears.com/sr/product/summ...id=00916553000 (ok pack, needs 1/2" impact though)

1/2" Impact... almost dangerous... By the time you let off the trigger the lug nut will be OFF! (Sears has/had a crome version for $189 I cant find it though. You must have impact sockets too.)

    Nice 3/8" air rachet...

4" grinder, Air hammer, 3/8" drill, & all kinds of stuff out there...
    It's stock... honest it is.

    ?wana race?

I'd look for a 500 ft/lb impact wrench. They cost more, but really have the power when it counts. That IR referenced by GLWagon will definitely get the job done. You can probably find one with nearly as much power for around $100 though. That one's pretty awesome though.

Actually pawn shops are an excellent source for cheap air tools.

just wondering if this is a decent price for a decent air compressor

all i need one for is for tires, bolts n stuff under the hood...mostly car stuff i guess.

can an air compressor have one of them wax buffer thingy attachments? that'd make waxing the car go a whole lot faster

That looks about right. Porter Cable makes great stuff.

I'm sure a buffer is available. Damn near any tool is.
