    brake light, make it stop

I dont pull my e-brake a whole hell of a lot. But one day I launched my car in some gravel and the dash "brake" light came on. It sometimes goes off and sometimes stays on. This is a small problem but it is an annoyance. I was wondering where the e-brake sensor was on the wrx to see if there is something in it or if someone knows a quick-fix for this damn light. Thanks

have you checked the reservoir level? The light comes on to indicate low fluid on a lot of cars. Check it. Maybe going through the gravel hit something to cause it? Have you checked it out underneath?

It's the fluid level, like he said. If the e-brake is on, the daytime running lights go out; check next time the light comes on. If your DRLs are still on when the light is showing, then it's def. a fluid level prob.

Or could be the float in the M/C, if the fluid level is fine make sure the float can move freely.

alright well i just checked and all the fluid level looked norma, although there was 2 resevoirs and i wasnt sure which was the right one, one behind the intercooler and one beside it...what is the float youre talking about, one of the resevoirs has filters in it where the cap comes off...my level is fine and my brake still stays on so im thinking its probably the float thing but i dont know where that is

my car was doing the same thing for a long time. THen the brakes started to be slightly audible so I knew it was time for new rotors and pads. Took it in to the dealership and they puts on new brakes (all 4 wheels) and the light went out...for good. They told me that the light can come one when ANYthing is not right with the braking system, i.e. pads worn, rotors burnt. Check that out and/or maybe the brakes will become audible soon and you'll know then what the probelm is. Chances are it is not a short of any kind. How long's it been since brakes were changed?

restoring a 2 year old thread!

okay so my e-brake light started going on and off recently. i guess somethings i should do are check the reservoir level and see if my DRL's are on when the light is on.

i hit 30K miles about 2 weeks ago and the rotors, pads, brake fluids haven't been changed. how long did you're brakes last?
