I'm not to sure that GM would be willing to part out with any of those cars. As far as I know as long as they can prove they made no money on the damaged cars they can some how write them off. They used to do that all the time in the harbor here. Once a freightliner came in and if something happened while it was at sea (hard seas and something hit the windsheild or something) they'd unload the car and take it right to a crusher. Then the company would retrieve a close to full vehicle cost replacement. IMO this is much wiser then getting a few thousand for a 30,000 dollar car.

GM will get reimbursed from their insurance company for the damaged cars. The insurance company will then assume ownership of the damaged cars, and auction them off to used car dealers and salvage yards.

Actually it's the LS2 in those cars, but I'm nitpicking.
And though it's badged as a Pontiac, it's actually an Australian Holden.

That does suck, but atleast it isn't another Exxon Valdez oil spill.
When I totalled the 98 Lude, I seriously contemplated buying it for the 4 grand or whatever...and dumping that h22a into my 89 Lude. That would've been ****!!!
(with the ls motor, I'd throw that badboy into a Buick Century or something---ULTIMATE SLEEPER!!)
    LET'S GO COLTS!!!

Actually, Australian Holden is a GM product

Sad sad news...even though the looks can still be improved, its a nice car and tragic to see that many hurt.
