CA: Highway 140 out of Yosemite to Merced

Great drive, gorgeous scenery, and smooth roads. You can hang it out as much as you like. Great visibility down the road, with passing areas.

This was my 1st long drive in the '02 wagon and it performed faultlessly. Lots of 4/5th gear straights (90-100 with out getting to hairy) lots of great 3rd gear hard corners to rail, most with smooth transitions (entrances and exits).

Very little traffic, the whole road descends along side of a river and not lots of gaurd rails, so if you f-up be preparred for a swim.

    enjoy...

Sounds good. I'm rarely in the central valley, but if I'm down there, I should give it a shot.

I live in between Merced and Yosemite. So I drive part of this road everyday to Merced to go school and to Yosemite to go snowboarding, and its is fun. Lots of long straight aways and great corners.

On a side not if u do take it. There are only 3 chp's on 140 from Mariposa to Merced so if you happen to see all three of them then you are home free, and the local sheriffs don't carry radar guns.

I did 140 to go in Yosemite 3 days ago and 120 to go back...Awesome drive, a little snow here and there and Yosemite magic as always...I love that place.
