Just picked up an 11' wagon that already had whiteline sways and endlinks. I was greasing the bushings because the previous owner failed to do so and they were squeaking like crazy. Anyway while I was underneath there I found a rear endlink to be busted. Also seems to be busted off from the lower control arm. Where the bolt goes through the control arm the steel is busted. It appears that there is a bolt that goes through the lower arm which I'm hoping is what I can replace without replacing the whole lower arm just to replace the endlink. I couldn't get a good look at it due to location. Was wondering if anyone on here had any issues like this or knows the setup of the lower arm?

Thanks guys,

Hi
I've managed to warp my passenger side wheels. Yes both front and back. The painful thing is when I hit 65+ mph my steering wheel visibly shakes. The guys at discount tire rebalanced my wheels and that helped with some of the shake (used to shake at only 50mph!). Anyways they pointed out my problem was I warped my right wheels.

So I'm concerned if driving with these wheels will have any ill effect on my difs. It's currently not my DD so I'm not driving it while I pick some new rims. But I might be starting a new job soon and loosing my current company DD.

Short question then is it bad to drive with bent wheels on the passenger side both front and back?

Thanks

I've been running Falken ZE-912's on my '02 wagon for years, and feel like they're a good-driving tire for the money. It does seem like they fall off, fairly quickly. I get something like 12-15K of good use out of them, but even with proper rotation, it seems like they're noisy and getting thin, by that time.

Does anyone have a recommendation for this chassis, for a tire that would be a bit more biased towards miles, rather than smiles? Just looking at the budget, it would be nice if I could get a little more out of my investment.

Winter Tires Destroyed in 1 Season?!

Hello All,

So I just got my summer tires put back on my 2012 WRX Premium at the dealership. They came to me and told me that my winter tires were beat and asked if I wanted them disposed of. I couldn't believe that the tires were toast so I went out into the bay, and sure enough they were.

Heres my question; Why?! I feel like a set of winter tires should last more than just one season. I have 36,000 on the vehicle so far, 20,000 of which were on these tires. The tires showed cupping, and one tire had severe wear on one side. The tech couldn't recall which tires had come from which part of the car  so I really have no idea where the problem lies.

About 6000 Miles ago, I was experiencing a clunk in the front end, which was resolved by replacing the front sway-bar bushings. They also did a 4 wheel alignment to help stop any other issues. About 4 thousand miles ago, I had my summer tires put on the car, but had to take them off a week later because of a massive snow storm in the northeast, and I needed to drive to CT from VT; no way i was doing that on summers. When they changed the tires around then, there was no mention of any issues with the tires at all; Same dealer and manager.

So basically my question is: How in 4000 miles, did my tires go from "ok" to completely destroyed? What should I check? The dealer told me and I quote "Because of the high performance compounds in the tire, their life expectancy is greatly reduced." The tires in question are Cooper Weather-masters, which were provided by the dealer when I bought the vehicle as a "free" addition to the sale.

I'll also note that after I got the 4 wheel alignment, I noticed my steering wheel was slightly to the right when going strait. I figured that it was the steering wheel not being aligned proper, and I didn't give much thought to it as it was only about 1/4 of an inch tops.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I've done searches on this and there are just so many possible things, that I have no idea where to begin. The dealership I go to is the only one within an hour+ of here, and I'm not really sure what to do...

I've spent a couple hours searching, but I'm having difficulty finding information about this specific SAME YEAR swap. Lots of info on fitting different years and different models, but nothing solid on this so if someone could help me out here without totally flaming the crap out of me, that would be appreciated. Actually, I don't mind if tons of people flame me, as long as one or two people could be helpful.

My wife has an 06 Outback Sport wagon, and I have an 06 WRX wagon. I'm just wondering how much of what is on my WRX will bolt right up on her car, and what I would have to buy to complete the job.

What? You say this is just in the name of upgrading MY wheels/brakes? Let's just say, all's well that ends well. And getting the family purse strings open to upgrade my car is significantly easier when her car gets better at the same time.....

I found some rota grids to buy, but I'm worried that they're going to require too much pulling/camber. I am running tein flex for coils. The Rotas are 18x9.5 +38. How much fender work would this require, would it need a ton of camber? It's my dd so I don't want to go complete overkill just want to put more traction down and sit flush. If there are better set ups out there for my needs then please let me know without being a complete **** I'm new to this whole fitment thing lol, thanks guys.

Now i can finish replacing bushings and work towards a awesome alignment to have a great driving wrx that im not afraid to drive 350 miles for a scca parking lot race. provided i dont mod myself into the real race car group haha.
