I own a 2006 WRX. It currently has just over 43,000 miles. During the past few months, I started to notice a significant oil smell following highway travel (i.e. coming to a stop at the end of an off-ramp after getting off an interstate highway).

After doing some research on here, I came to the conclusion that I might have some oil in the stock TMIC. I brought my car into a local Subaru dealer today to have somebody look at it. Sure enough, the mechanics found oil dripping off the intercooler hose and found oil in the intercooler.

On the invoice, the mechanics additionally stated "Turbo seals leaking needs turbo about 1600.00 to replace". When I arrived back home, I promptly took a look at my warranty paperwork. According to my records, my vehicle's 60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty expires 05/20/11. Is the turbocharger covered under this warranty?

More importantly, though, whether the turbocharger is covered under this warranty or not, would I be running the risk of causing the same harm to my stock turbocharger if my current aftermarket configuration remains as it is now?:

Hello

I just purchased my first Subaru its 8 yrs old now but im still happy to own it. The previous owner said that I should change the timing belt. This morning I called my mechanic and asked him how much it would cost to change it, he said "the WRX has two belts to change and it takes alot of work, I usually recommend replacing the bearing and the water pump when doing this job. He estimates the cost to be no less than 700. "

How does this sound to you guys? whats the approximate cost of the timing belt change. Do i need to change the water pump?

Hi all....new here so hear I go !
Have an 02 WRX....125k.....bone stock other than short ram intake, MBC and boost guage. Run only premium gas...not driven very hard....very fun car...was only boosting 13 psi.
Here's my issue....went through touchfree high pressure carwash.....came out and car stumbled hesitated...just like a MAF issue. Drove car 2 miles home...still jerky. Filter was wet....MAF was misty at best...not soaked. I let the car sit in the 95 degree heat with hood open for 6 hours. Sealed it all up and car drove ok...no stumbling or hesitation....but now no power. The turbo seems like its spooling...I can feel it wants to go but just no "powerband" as I like to call it....normally spools to about 3300 RPM and then BAM...tons of power until I shift to another gear. Now 1st and 2nd will show about 2-3 psi and 3rd on out will max at 6-7....its a steady pegged 6-7...no spikes or roughness. I do have a CEL on but that's been on for atleast 2 years and this just happened.....its a P0031 which my scanner is telling me its an 02 sensor...don't think that's my issue.
I removed all turbo related pressure lines and plumbed a line directly from the turbo inlet to the wastegate as I'm under the impression the WRX is set at 9 psi from the factory...so I should have seen 9 psi....nope...6-7. I put it back to stock utilizing the BCS and the T fitting with the restrictor pill...nope....6-7 psi. I checked the wastegate actuator...e clip in tact and arm not bound up. I cleaned the MAF...nothing. I pulled off the BOV ( stock ) and it seems ok....holds vac on the inlet and gasket looks fine. I went over all clamps /fittings on the intake, IC, ...all seem fine. Replaced the battery terminals...you name it...I've done !!!
Considering the wg is set for 9 psi from the factory...what would restrict me to 6 psi max ? I may be wrong about the factory wg setting...if so...why won't the MBC let me get back over 6 psi ? I am stumped here all....any insight would be great. I'm still scratching my head...unless its something internal or something simple I am overlooking. I can only assume there is something wrong with the wastegate or the flapper....any ideas ?

I pulled these codes and from what I've researched these seem to be for the secondary air valves to warm up the cats for emissions reasons. Is it reasonable for BOTH of these to be failing at the same time or is this more likely a problem with the relay? Also, from what I've read it seems like this won't be a major issue. Can I just disable the code and drive normally?
