Tail light tinting on 2013 WRX?

I'm looking for something that looks like this. I'm a total noob, for the most part, when it comes to tinting. I know they're DIY but is it hard? If anybody knows of ones like these links would be great!

Is it even legal in your area?

I wouldn't do it, just because I like the idea of someone actually being able to see that I'm braking from more than 10 feet away, but that's just me.

Well the rule is here in Florida that the brake lights just need to be seen from 300 feet away. That's all that I've seen.

I'm not a fan of surprise automotive butt sex, so tinting taillights isn't my thing...

300 feet is a football field. That's a pretty good distance away. I really wouldn't recommend this, but you could always talk to a tint shop in your area if you're that set on being rearended.

Tint laws and design prefs aside, I have heard from people that have attempted and completed skinning the tail lights, its a PITA. I tried to youtube some videos, and I came across a how-to where the person stops halfway after failed attempts, black screens it and writes something like, broke down and took to professional tint shop. It prob is worth paying the 50 extra dollars and having them do it and look right.

i actually know someone who this past week was rear ended in a parking lot that had their tails tinted.

what i would do, and did do to mine, is get a light tint for teh clear part. so it tints the reverse light, but it still lights up enough to see behind me at night.

dont know how hard it is to do it yourself, but it seems really tedious. id pay to do it. plus i wouldnt black them out like that. just get them smoked if you really want to tint them

Today I tinted them with bluebat overlays and here's the results. It took me and my friend a couple hours to do. The trick is heat and lots of it!

Also, to everyone who made comments about being rear-ended because of these, here is a picture with my brake lights on. The left light has the overlays on it and the right one doesn't. As you can tell, there's virtually no difference, but, granted, this was taken in a fairly low lit setting.

Those are drastically lighter than the ones in your OP though.

Yep. Glad to see you went with a nice light tint, and not the murdered out look! Gives your car a little bit of character and individualism, but doesn't appear to have created a safety issue from your pics!
