Yeah given Californias reputation, it always sort of surprises people. Basically, here is CA tint law:
Rear window: No restrictions. You could literally paint it black if you wanted, but you must have 2 outside mirrors.
Rear side windows: No restrictions. Again, you could literally paint it black.
Front side windows: 30% is the maximum legal tint.
Windshield: No tint allowed whatsoever.
So basically i'm only risking it on the front windows, and the 20% isn't THAT dark. The reward of how it looks FAR outweighs the risk of getting a ticket. Sexy sexy car with the tints.
Follow these links for a couple more pics of the tint (lighting was a bit harsh for the cell phone camera)

Just picked up this 2002 wrx on coil-overs
It sits an inch and a quarter higher now and plan to mod the front bumper for more clearance, sucks going into driveways. Fun car none the, less
Actually it is in New Zealand, that is where my family lives. It is also difficult because of import rules. I have posted a lot of pictures on the forum over time, I have some in the members gallery search in #2 for 22B05STI and also pictures from my New Zealand trip, which I did a thread for and also an album on my user page. I guess if you search 22B05STI you will find them. I should organise them properly but I have started a thread on the 22B now and posted a couple.

Wow...that thing is nasty. I can't even come up with words for it.
On a different note....Here's my new Rex not 10 minutes after I drove it off the lot. Needs a wash bad, just got back from Florida and I'm going to tend to it before I drive home! I know it looks like it's three colors lol, it's just dirty from the wet roads.
First mod is going to be a Tanabe exhaust system.

I don't know if this guy is a member here but last week I saw a white STI/WRX in NY with an LED strip in the hood scoop. It was just so awful.

I think if I did the halo.. Id' skip the strip.. or vice/verse. Both I think is overkill.. but, the work is clean man. Nice job!
I've been toying with working some LED's in to use for my drl's instead of the high beam bulb. I need to study the wiring diagrams and see how tough it would be to separate em. The strips at the bottom of the light (think 3G light) in a more flat white/warm white color would be super trick for drl use.
