    lighter front end

i put a carbon fiber front clip on on my 04 wagon and now i have almost double the gap between the fender well and the tire. the rear-end is fine of course but how do i lower the front-end without hurting handling/performance?

What's your current suspension seutp? As for the carbon fiber front clip, nice work! How much weight would you say you've saved?

i wish i knew. the suspension is stock.i flipped it and couldn't find used replacement parts and the stock stuff as you probably know is an aluminum alloy and pretty pricey. i love it but i wish i was set-up for more off-road type. anyway it is what it is and i'm a po-boy so i'll do what i can when i can......still f'n waitin on my obama money

    Here are some options:

-- Smaller tires. That'll drop the front ($$)
-- Replace springs. it'll actually handle nicer ($$)
-- Cut the springs. It'll ride horribly but cost you nothing except test your patience. That's a prime example of some "bad ideas formed while drunk" in the world of backyard mechanics. I'd advise against it.

Lots of used parts on NASIOC as well. You could probably find a decent set of springs for cheap plus it'll drive nicer.

BUT if you wanted to go more off-road style setup, wouldn't lowering it hurt your new front clip?

If you do this, make sure to use the same diameter wheel/tire at all 4 corners. If you simply use smaller-diameter wheels at the front, it will destroy your center diff. Of course, you will also have to change out the speed-sensor

    Yes.

Do NOT do this. Cut springs are dangerous. Your suspension travel/springs/struts are designed by Subaru engineers to be used in conjunction with one another. By cutting the springs, you are far more likely to be riding on the bump-stop continuously and this is dangerous.

suprisingly not that bad, definately has more lag than a smaller turbo but its not bad at all, and shes got some get up and go.
