heya,
Not sure, but thought some folks may be interested in installing a STi wing on there wingless 2015/16 wrx. I did it last week, and here are the results....
So I have unsuccessfully have been looking for a CWP STi trunk with wing to swap my wingless, lip spoilered trunk. Arizona was the closest on all the wing swap threads. I stumbled accross a STi OEM wing for sale on i-club, so I went for it. The wing was unpainted so I took it to my local body shop, Shepherd’s Auto Body in Truckee, Ca. Jason and his crew were awesome, and had the wing painted in a day. Cool.
I then tackled the install. I had researched to death to see if anyone had tackled the install on a 2015/16 wrx. I found a couple guys on nasioc, but both had NOT done the install themselves. They had a shop do the install. Sooooo, I decided I was on my own, but had confidence I could pull it off.
A side note: In my research I found folks were concerned that the WRX trunk is too different to accept the STi wing. It wasn't re-enforced properly, etc. I can say confidently the wrx trunk should be just fine handling the weight etc. Yeah they are different part numbers etc. But the overall structure is the same. My guess is the STi wing comes predrilled and finished to make installing a wing easier. The WRX trunk is just less "finished". On to the install...
I made a template using the long cardboard box the wing came in. I put the cardboard onto a carpet floor, and then weighted the wing to poke holes in the cardboard. I then flipped the wing, and pushed the cardboard until it was flush with the feet of the wing. I traced the feet, and then cut the tempate out. Before I taped the template onto the trunk, I used an awl to make a small indent using the "pre" drilled holes inside the trunk (there are 3 main bolt per foot on the wing that attaches to the wing to the trunk. Two of the holes were already there, more likely part of the same manufacturing process the STi trunks go through). I taped the mounting areas using "blue" painters tape, and marked the indents with a pencil to check how they lined with the mounting bolts. They lined up really well. I then spent about 2 hours measuring what seemed like 20 different angles/ref points to make sure I had both sides lined up and centered correctly. I also had pics I had taken from my local Subaru dealer that had a few 2016 STi on the lot. It all looked great...
The hardest part of the WHOLE install was driling the holes. And I mean hard like getting the balls to drill holes into my new cars' trunk. So I took a deep breath and drilled away. I then took a look under the trunk, and to my great joy, the holes lined up dead nuts center in the "pre" drilled holes. Nice.
I lined up the wing and everything looked pretty sweet. Something to keep in mind if you decide to tackle this: The wing has a natural "arc" in order to fit flush on the trunk lid. When I tried to make a template out of particle board, I noticed the "arc" of the wing, and that I would need a thinner, more flexible material to make a template from (hence the use of cardboard). Plan accordingly....
I drilled pilot holes initially, and then followed up with the proper sized bit for the mounting bolts. The next challenge was to remove enough material from the inner "frame" (the steel used to support the underside of the trunk) for the mounting nuts to thread to the mounting bolts. The "middle" mounting bolt was the only real challange here as the inner frame was pretty thick and close to the actual deck steel. I was able to pull it off, and then finished mounting the wing. I have a bunch of clean up to do, as well as some "weather proofing" to finish (sealant, etc).
I am very pleased so far with the wing. I know many folks will want to clown me out, or claim the wing is "ricey" or "wanna be". But honestly I could care less. This body style REALLY looks good with the wing. It is not NEARLY as obnoxious as the older sedan wings from my 04/05 Sti's. And it is MUCH more stable. No bouncing or wind created vibrations (I drove home is a wind event last night. Stable with no weirdness). I have 20mm spacers, so the "tucked tiny wheel" look does not apply. I was worried the stock 17s would look silly with the wing, but spaced out, it doesn't look bad at all. The next mod is differnt wheels however. 18x9.5. I believe the bigger wheels will add even more to the whole look I am going for...
Here is a pic of the wing installed. Hope this was helpful for someone!

PS I did keep the lip spoiler...and i think it looks great in combo with the STi wing....
