Paint Protection and/or rust proofing underside from dealer?

Anybody here pay for the "subaru paint protection" they offer? If so, you like?

Any options out there besides opticoat 2.0?

    How about underside "rust proofing"?

I live very close to the beach so both options are interesting to me....

It's hit or miss to me - a poor rust protection job can possibly trap moisture and cause premature problems. I searched this to the death recently and there was no clear answer as to what is best.

Say no to rustproofing. As stated above it tends to make things worse. My 2004 has gone through many salt filled winters and no signs of rust through.

Paint sealant can be done DIY far cheaper and better. Both treatments are pure profit for the dealer.

I also had a 2004 WRX, when I sold it there was 0 rust on the car. All I did was wash and wax it regularly. As long as you get the underbody wash, you won't have any issues. I live just outside Boston, we have nasty winters.

I skipped both on my cars and applied CarPro Cquartz UK myself.

My sister-in-law got both on her Toyota and a year later her car is already starting to rust through the paint. Complete waste of $.
