    Mud Flaps?????

My first post you guys should be excited.

Just picked up a new 2013 blue wrx

gotta get some mudflaps but i noticed the rally armor ones look like they have a gloss finish....

I have gone through some of the posts here to look at other ones but cant find any does anyone know of a good quality flap like the rally armors that are not glossy ?

Whats the reasoning behind making them glossy they look awful and cheap? Is there some sort of functionality im missing

I think the gloss finish makes them easier to clean. You don't notice how glossy they are once they are on the car.

Flapatax. Cheap, not glossy. And by Cheap I mean 1/3 the price of RallyArmor (wayyyy overpriced IMO)

I made mine from 90A PU from rallylights.com and hardware from home depot. One side is glossy and the other is more matte. I put the glossy side towards the wheel in hopes that it would shed snow, mud and ice better.

It could just be an innate property of the plastic they use. I assume it's a low friction, anti-static sort of plastic and all the plastic that I've seen of that nature is usually glossy if not at least satin. Or I could know nothing about materials and they made them glossy for looks. Both are real possibilities lol.

OP, go to an industrial materials warehouse close to you and ask them what selection of plastics they have. Get a 1/8'' thick sheet square about 2' x 2'. Make sure it's flexible, impact resistant, low friction coefficient so they have a "slippery" surface. Cut them out yourself using a template somewhere on the internet, go to Home Depot for screws/bolts. Viola. It will probly cost you $25.

The gloss goes away but if you have an IKEA by you they have a flexible cutting board you can use or if you can find some thin kydex that could also work.
