    2008 WRX Bumper Upgrade

    Hello Wrxers,
I own a 2008 WRX hatchback and I utterly hate the 2008 WRX front bumper, the newer model WRXs have such wide nice bumpers and side skirts that I adore.
However, I also like the 2008 STI bumper. I'm not that great in working on cars, I know basics and that's about it, I have the tools that anyone else has in their garage (average joe)
I would like to change my bumper to the 11-13 bumpers but I'm not sure if it's possible.

Tl;dr Can I swap my 2008 bumper to the 2011-13 without having to do anything crazy or should I just get a 2008 STI bumper, and do I have to change anything completely around in order to fit them?

I doubt any of those bumpers would fit properly. The 08+ STI & the 11+ WRXs all have flared fenders. The contours don't match. Even if it did fit it'd look worse than what it looks like now IMO.

You can probably swap the front clip from a later year model.. I remember we used to. Maybe even just swap bumper and fenders, but I've never looked into it. Although power wise you would be better off with a later year model anyways.

I've seen a company that makes 08 wrx "sti look" front bumpers, but haven't seen anyone with them on yet...

I've seen a couple of guys convert their entire front end to a wide body with bumper, fenders and fender liners, but then the wheels are tucked way in and the rear is still narrow.

You can do a search and find the details.

What color is your car? The cost of a conversion you can get some tint, nice wheels and coilovers give the car a nice stance.

It looks like a lot of work but it can be done

I mean that's really nice but with the work and cost wouldn't it just make sense to completely upgrade to a newer model or sti?
Does anyone know a place that'd sell aftermarket bumpers that fit an 08 WRX?
I probably will just go down to 2007 sedan..

Is your current car paid off? Why not check out The official '08-10 wrx thread - NASIOC and see if you can get some ideas for possibly making exterior modifications before selling/trading in your current car. Since you have a black wrx you have a lot more options
