2010-2013 WRX Hatch license plate bulbs

HI has anyone changed out thier license plate bulbs on a 2010-2013 WRX hatch? I wanna change them out to led but cant figure out if I have to take the hatch panel off. According to the manual it says to push the clear houseing to the left left it will come off but I tried and the damn things dont budge. Please help

It is quite difficult yet simple to get the covers off. I spent literally hours trying to figure it out. It is a twist off. If I remember correctly you push to one side & twist off. Not sure exactly which direction but I think it comes off in only one direction.

cool man thanks for the info. So when i puch to the side does it click or something then twist off? I tried pushing it to the left like the manual said but I felt like I was gonna brake something so I stopped.

What led bulb?

I didn't take anything off on my '13 Hatch. Just pulled on the Bulb case and it comes off. Not really hard just annoying.

something ust be seriously wrong with my car cause those dame license plate bulbs covers wont budge. Maybe i gotta go back ot the gym but those damn things are on there!!!!

the housing suctions to the trunk pretty well and my fingers were aching the first time trying it. not so bad once you get it haha

What led bulb is good to use, I have whitish blueish reverse lights I'd like to match them but there's so many different types of led bulbs, I looked on superbrightleds.com. Help!

Most people use this style for almost all 194 base applications...

if you open the hatch and pop the plastic panels off the inside you can get right to the bulbs

hi 11blackwrx/ I have a 2013 hatch and those panel inside the hatch go to the reverse bulbs not the license plate bulbs. I still cant get those damn things off!! this things pissing me off lol.

not the small panels on the inside of the hatch, the larger panel the those are in. you have to take off all the trim on the hatch due to them piecing together
