Hey everyone I have seen a lot of people with red tint on their tail lights but haven't seen any aftermarket replacement for a 2012 WRX hatchback. Does anyone know if such a thing exist?

What kind of paint do you use?

it's a long read, but worth it. i used the paint in the OP, but the consensus is the VHT nightshades is better. but mine has been on since the summer and no signs of fading... i ordered the paint on Amazon as it was unobtanium at Lowes / Home Depot.

I'd recommend overlays. Paint is a PITA to correct if you get it wrong.

I would say if you plan to DIY, the vinyls are a PITA. The paint only requires a little masking work and some patience to get your lines right but, is SUPER easy and costs under $15.
It looks great too. Just take your time and you can have these done and back on over 1 day or night.

Vinyl overlays are certainly not a pain in the ass. I had mine on and I was driving again in less than 10 minutes.
I did smoked tails. Search bluebatmobile, he does vinyl overlays. I had my tint guy install them.

C'mon...10 minutes?!? First ever vinyl experience??
I just could not get the main feature on the outside hatch lens to take.
They must not be too bad but, still harder than paint in my personal opinion.
Both look great for sure.
Here's my paint job from last week.
I used thin width electrical tape for the main edge masking. It allowed me to make the curve masking border with only a little slicing on the inside of the bends to reduce deformation of the tape. Worked like a charm.

i love the paint don't get me wrong, it even seems to have a darker shade to it which i definitely like. But the overlays aren't permanent and seem easier. If i wanna switch things up later on ill peel em off and try out paint so i don't blow $35 on new overlays
I vote paint.
