    door locks

My 2002 WRX I've had for 4 years now does not have a key for the door locks. The only key I have works on the trunk and ignition. I've been using keyless entry with no problems since I bought the car but I'd like to replace the locks so I have a key that will open the doors if need be. Does anybody know what kind of locks I need or where to order some?

How does your key not work with the door locks??? Were they changed out previously?

Only place you can really get something like that done I imagine, is at a dealer or a specialty Subaru shop.

I know that my car came with "valet" keys, and those only work on the doors/ignition. They won't open the glove box or trunk (not that a valet guy couldn't just pull my back seats down to get to the trunk anyway). I wonder if the regular (non-valet) key won't work on the door, but will do all other functions. Seems silly that it wouldn't, but to be honest I have never tried after over two years of owning my car!

On my old impreza (2006) it used to set off the alarm when I unlocked the door with my key, but I never looked into it, just used the keyless entry.

One key should fit everything. The valet key will fit everything except the glove box and trunk. If your key works in the trunk it should work in the doors. If it doesn't, and you would like it to, go to a locksmith. This is what they specialise in. You can either take the locks out and give them to him or drive the whole car there.
