Is it just dirt or actual scratches? It sounds like scratches since you said you couldn't wash it off. If that's true, then you'd need to sand them off and use a plastic refinisher to restore the luster.

How do you properly remove them? I tried a damp rag and no luck.

I've never tried it, but for scuffs (not scratches) I have a friend who swears that the Mr. Clean magic eraser pen thingy works.

My door panel is getting to be the same way, it seams now matter how I try not to, I always scrape my shoes against the door panel when I get outta the car.
Exactly! So frustrating. I am so conscientious about not doing it and it still happens. In my 05 wr's I never had this issue but I think it was a darker interior on the doors
