    Tail light modding

So, ever since I bought my '11 OBP WRX I've wanted to do something with the tail lights. They just stand out way too much to me against the black. I thought about just buying the red overlays but I've decided to try something a little more unique that I've yet to see and paint all the chrome in the tail lights black. Just wanted to get some feedback before committing. Thanks all!!

Another option is to smoke the tails. A google image search will find photos.

But painting the chrome might look good, if it was done well

I'm running LED's in the brake, turn, and reverse lights, with a stobe to solid in teh raised rear brake light (flashes 5 times then goes solid).

LEDs done right is nice, albeit a bit pricey. My tails ran me about $200 for the bulbs alone.

That is something I am sorta interested in doing....but the guy who pulled that off didn't write a how to.....and searching around it seems you need to use a drimmel cut the lights open....that seems a bit risky

Well, it definitely took longer and way more effort than I thought but with a lot of persistence, patience, and help from my roommate, we got the lights done!

    Lights off...

    Hey Darth...

Those look real nice, but the whole gray background to your posts, along with gray text, makes your post almost impossible to read. We get it....your cool....you reference pop culture and what not with your 'izzle' Snoop speak, Star Wars-esk username, and naming your car after a song from Blow, and a ship from a Johnny Depp movie and all.... How bout you just put the colors back to stock so everyone can enjoy the posting too?

Not exactly sure what you mean We took the lights apart, taped off the reverse and turn signal chrome areas then sprayed the rest with a couple of coats of flat and gloss black. We put them back together, siliconed the living crap out of them then taped them off and hit the edges with a couple of coats of gloss black. hope that answers your question.

He meant the drivers window, there is no tint on it. Tail lights look really good btw.
