Just got a gift certificate for Xmas from the wife to get my 2011 DGM 5-door tinted. I'm trying to work out a few issues ...
1. What to tint: I know NJ law says the back windows and rear window can be done, but the driver & passenger windows can not be done. Still, I think I'm going to to tint the fronts anyway (not the windshield, of course). I know I risk a ticket, but I can live with the risk if it's what I want.
That said - how have NJ owners (or others with similar restrictions) done with their tint jobs and the law?
2. Darkness - Darker looks better, but as always has its drawbacks. My thought is to get the shop to do the fronts at 35, the back windows at 20, and the rear window at 35. My thoughts are that it gives me a bit better view at night where I need it. I also figure it might give the car the visual appearance of not being tinted so much on the front windows, making it more LEO friendly.
Has anyone out there tried having different levels on different windows?
How happy are you with the darkness you chose?
3. Pictures - I would love to see pictures of any and all tinted 2011/12s. Please, please, please post me some pics here and list the percentages you chose so I and anyone else interested can get a feel for how it looks with the different shades on different colors. I would love to see this turn into a big post as a resource for people with similair questions.
Im in FL and did 5% on all windows except the windshield. I like it except when its raining at night. Then its kind of difficult to see.

I have 50% on my front doors & windshield; 35% for the rest. My tint guy claims he did everything right, but every window looks the same. I actually like the look, so I haven't argued it with him. Here's a terrible pic of the windshield after a wash on a sunny day. Others to follow.
Never seen anyone with 45% in the area. Usually 35% is pretty safe route to go, its a good balance of dark/light (you won't really have an issue seeing out at night and you still have a good balance of dark for the stealthy/private look). IMO, anything more than 35% is sorta a waste to spend the amount you have to spend for a good tint job.
Haven't seen 45%, but I have seen 50% and as tommy_c said it's not worth doing unless the only goal is to reduce glare and maybe some heat reduction. If you are looking for a tinted look I think 35% is where you have to start. I'm getting tinted next Monday and am going with 30%, which seems like a nice level - looks great but avoids the vision issues that come at 20% and below.
I've got 30% ceramic on my '12 and I absolutely love it. Perfect 'smoked' look and no visibility issues at all at night. In fact, I'd say it helps visibility as it cuts down on those glaring SUV headlights behind you
How do you guys feel about the tints on the tails? I was thinking overlays of the red strip around but seeing the tints on N8INCHATT's I'm curious to how they look on WRBs.
Go check out Lamin-x Protective Films - Protect with Style. That is where I got my tails. My guy said they were a major pain in the ass to put on though but they turned out quite well.
Has anyone got an SWP with just the rear windows tinted? CA is broke as ever and really hitting tickets hard lately... My 135 is out of ticket extensions as it is ):/
