Good job. I like that you took the initiative to do this on your own. You should make a few extras to sell. Depending on the final product I might want one.
Have you thought of making your own box to shield your air filter from the heat from the engine compartment?
Yes I have....but at the same time I don't want to loose that sound it puts out. I am going to punch holes in the front angled face to let it breathe im going to cut break line out and line the under edge and weld it and smooth that all out to give it a nice rounded edge. Then im paint it black win a red 1/4" pin stripe around the edges
Nice work man! Looks really clean. I have to admit though, I really dig it in the bare metal finish. What metal did you use and what thickness?
fyi, if you make an airbox and keep it open to the opening in the apron its likely you're not going to loose any sound. AEM's and COBB's (that have the box) are both sealed from the engine bay and both pretty vocal.

SUCH IS MANGO!
I cant wait to see the finished product. I'd like a bare metal one so that I could have it powder coated either red to match the wrinkle red AEM piping or wrinkle black.

Thanks all for the feedback! I think im going to change the color im painting it to red! and getting a red radiator hose since the rest of the car is red and black.
here is the bracket I made for underneath... it bridges the two stock mounting holes and is level with the motor. Lastly it allows me to put the screws were ever I wish on the bracket...I haven't decided but I may weld this bracket to the cover... however this would make it very hard to put on and off and add more time to any under the hood job.
