Self etching primer, metallic black undercoat and some RustOleum metallic multi color overcoat. I'll take pics of the cans when I get back from work tonight.

So I was standing in aisle 11 at home depot to get some plasti dip for my prerunner. It suddenly clicked, wait a second I could do this to the side emblem like I saw in this forum!!!!!!! The first picture has everything I bought and well you guys already know what the before looks like. This is the after. Let me know what you think. Overall it took me about 45min because I had to repeat it once. lol. If you wanna try it there are plenty of plasti dip videos on youtube check it. 1can is about 4-5 bucks plus tape another 4 total cost... less than 10 bucks.

I'm not sure if I saw a blue plasti dip.. but the great thing about plasti dip.. if you don't like it.. you can take it off. Thanks for the positive feedback. I still need to touch up the sides a little bit to straighten out the lines but overall i'm very satisfied.

I'm plasti dipping my wheels, that's probably it. I'll use some kind of paint and brush in the side markers. Lol, my gf is pretty artistic so I'll make her hand brush it in

I think I started this thread over 6 months ago, so I guess that makes me a procrastinator. Finally got around to Plasti-dipping the side emblems, and I love the result. For anyone thinking of trying it, it is pretty easy to do. The side panels pop off quite easily, just open the door and start pulling from there. Once off, I masked off the DGM section, leaving just the emblem showing. Gave it four coats, with 15 min drying time between them, then gave it a four hour final dry before re-install. The pieces pop right back into the holes (bottom one is the hardest - I found if you loosed the rocker trim just below (several more pop-fasteners - easy out, easy back in) then its easier to get at.

Never liked that little chrome piece on the side, so I am thrilled to have it dipped. The color matches the DGM quite well too.

The pix are here to illustrate the job and result. Click for larger if you need.

Take off the tape before it dries.
