    Tint and radio reception interference???

I am taking my car to get tinted this Friday and will either be getting charcoal or Quantum (20% for either). I've had both in the past, and I really like the quantum...I think it would look good on a crystal gray metallic car. BUT, I've read that metallized tint like quantum can interfere with radio reception if the antenna is in the rear window like the WRX is. Anyone have this problem?

I think I'd prefer quantum, but not at the expense of my radio reception; I spend alot of time in my car.

Also, if anyone has any pics of their 06 tinted (cgm, preferrably), feel free to post them!

Well I don't have an 06, I have an 05, but my antenna is also part of the rear glass. Yes it will interfere with radio reception, although I have only noticed it with AM, not FM. My suggestion, just change your headunit and get satellite radio. Its far superior anyway to AM or FM. Besides, you know that the tint will look good, screw the radio reception!

A non-metallic tint should not interfere with radio reception. The in glass antenna simply isn't very efficient. The WRX has the worst radio reception of any car I ever had - this OK as I rarely use the radio.

Wow, that's interesting. My WRX has the BEST radio reception of any car I've ever owned. While I don't like too many things on the radio, its nice to have the option. I spend so much time in my car that my cds begin to get boring. BTW, I have a Kenwood Excelon deck, so I'm sure that helps reception a bit. Suffice it to say I pull in stations that I couldn't get in my Focus....unless I was 50 miles closer.

I'll probably just go with a non-metallic tint since I know that won't interfere.

grounding yourself (holding it in your hand) to the anntenae seems to work pretty good too.
