Somewhere between an early car and the head-in-the-bed scene in The Godfather, the Horsey Horseless, the brainfart of inventor Uriah Smith of Battle Creek, Mich., was intended to soothe the skittish nerves of our equine servants. A wooden horse head was attached to the front of the chuffing buggy in order to make it resemble a horse and carriage (Smith recommended the horse head be hollow to contain volatile fuel another great idea). "The live horse would be thinking of another horse," said Smith, "and before he could discover his error and see that he had been fooled, the strange carriage would be passed." Stupid horse! It's not clear if the Horsey Horseless was ever actually built or if it is a chimera of auto history, but it reminds us just what a radical, hard-to-conceptualize thing a horseless carriage was.

    TURBO LAG WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You stomped the pedal on that thing, a team of swedish scientists had to deliberate on how to deliver the power before they switched it on.

    Interesting thread, actually.

While the Japanese imports seem to be prevalent, there are a large number of other vehicles represented in a few main categories:
    Muscle/pony cars
    Sports Cars
    Trucks
    Bikes

And a lot more people who are probably NOT young kids here than I expected.

My list, in approximate order of appearance:

    64 1/2 Mustang
    73 LTD (351 Windsor)
    Mazda RX5
Renault LeCar (desperation car to hopefully last until I entered military)
Toyota Crown (even more desperate car because I blew up the Renault in 6 weeks)
    75 Chevy Impala
    80 Ford Fairmont
1972 Honda CB750 (cheap, burnt valves)
    88 Suzuki Samurai
    1980 CB750
1962 Land Rover Model 88 SWB
    93 Ford F150
Numerous other CB750s in various states of repair over the next few years
Yamaha 500 twin (free, rode for two weeks, hit by drunk driver)
89 Ford Crown Vic (modified suspension and dual exhaust)
1973 CB750 which was rebuilt from the ground up
    1976 Ford F100
    1990 Mazda Protege
    1994 Mazda Miata
    2008 Impreza WRX

I had up to 6 bikes in various states of repair at times and many times had 2 or more vehicles registered.
Not included in the list are company trucks I have put many, many miles on.
