What did you drive before your WRX?

My list... from the beginning...

'85 S-10 (2.8/4-speed) - replaced crank, rod/main bearings, cam went bad, sold for $500

'84 Olds Delta 88 (307/TH350) - hooptie, more problems than I care to list, ran great, donated

'85 S-10 on & off (2.8/700R4, dad's) - no real problems, many things fixed over time, only thing ever replaced on the motor was the starter and the steering pump, sold

'88 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd shortbed (350/700R4) - re-ringed motor/rebuilt heads, blew tranny (had rebuilt). lowered/shaved/painted/etc. - rearended, totaled

'91 Sonoma (4.3/4L60) - bought with insurance $$$ from fullsize accident. rearended, rolled, and stolen... I still have it, minus the $2000ish (retail anyway) in stereo equip. and all the stuff that was in it.

'81 Malibu (305/3-speed, current car) - originally had a toasted TH350 (converted to a 3-speed myself), has a bad cam and leaks tons of oil, needs the brakes bled and LOTS of bodywork... I bought it as a project car, but I'm junkin' the body on this one, gonna use the frame under a cleaner shell eventually (plans for a 500hp/tq 383 + T56)

My next vehicle will be a bugeye WRX if I get this job I had an interview for last Tuesday.

1. 1982-ish S-10. Learned body work, finally wrecked it.
2. 1984 VW Rabbit L. The "L" is for Luxury. Upgraded everything that broke to the Scirocco equivalent. It was pretty cool when I sold it.
3. 1999 Nissan Maxima. Very nice.
4. 2003 WRX sedan, very pleased with this purchase.
5. 2001 PT Cruiser. My wife's chariot. Sweet rims, a spoiler, and room for a baby seat & stroller.

oh... but i saw you had the duster with the 360 swap

yes, was 318 2bbl car originally. kept the block but swapped intake, carb, heads, exhaust. original rear had 2.40 something 'prairie gears'.
talk about no accelleration!
automatic. added a shift kit too.
had it until 1989 or 90.

Duster had 360 in it when i got it.
i put in bucket seats & disc brakes on front.
eventually torsion bar twisted out of hex cup in rotten frame.
drove it for a bit w/ a piece of 2x4 wedged in front suspension to keep it from collapsing.
that was a firm ride. :-)
those were some broke days. a year or so out of college, low paying job, student loans, etc.
