It's a love/hate relationship...it cost me nothing (my dad died, and my mother wanted to keep a truck in the family), but has proven to be a much lesser vehicle than the Toyota truck that I had, years before. I do get 27-28mpg out of it, and as you said, it's crazy slow. I pull out in front of no one when I'm in it.
I really wouldn't be all that surprised if a few of us had some good Ranger stories, and you are 100% correct with the whole love/hate thing. I did so much horrendous stuff to it. I got challenged to do some off-roading with it at a friends house party on one occasion.....yeah, I probably shouldn't have even had keys on my person. My buddy liked to make this thing that was loaded with all kinds of alcohol, and he made it in a huge vat. He called it Satan's Cider. It was nothing more than a liquor roofie-colada for the ladies that were supposed to show up, but didn't that night. We decided to get drunk, and it wasn't one of those highs that you feel coming, you felt perfectly fine until you stood up.......then sat right back down. So, the next thing I know, I'm across the street from the house in my truck, in a grassy empty field, WFO, In second gear, all because someone at that party told me I couldn't do it.

Yup. Wow, it's been right at a year, driving around with some kind of goo holding all of my oil in. Priceless.

I wouldn't take my truck in any kind of offroad situation. I've used it on a few mild dirt roads that lead to hiking trailheads. My 87 4Runner was much more durable. That thing was indestructible.

2006 Honda S2000. It was lightly modded with intake, exhaust, coilovers, and a tune. Was a great source of fun, but not a 4 season car.

Loved that car, but love my WRX more.

I've got more space, it's faster, and I've no urge to mod anything on the car. Might go with a Cobb AP and tune, just because I've seen firsthand what a good tuner can do for a car. Other than that, the WRX does everything I need/want it to.

Yeah....I am wondering that myself. Been there and done that with the Honda though. I think I would like to get a good tune on it, but then you have to flash back to stock whenever it goes in for service. I'll probably just wait until the warrenty is up on it and then go that route.

Traded this in on my WRX. 08 SI. Very fun car to drive. It even had some advantages over my WRX. Interior material and finish was better as was the consistent 30+ MPG. Never had a single issue with it over 70,000 miles. Car still had the original tires and brakes on it when I traded it.

Original tires at 70K? You must not have had TOO much fun driving it.
Geez, I'm ready for new tires before 30K goes by in the wagon.

I'm envious...though I'm starting to think that my particular Falken choice is why I eat up my tires. (More smiles than miles)
Yeah, and the way I take roundabouts and the S-curve near work probably has something to do with it, as well.

15K would be a record up here for me.
