My rates are actually very low 1200 for the year....this is with Geico in New York State....but as it turns out, Geico stinks.....really a pain in the arse....they wanted to fix by deer accident with used parts....so you get what you pay for....

Hmm..Not entirely corrrect. I tried to get a friend's car added onto my insurance policy, as I was driving the car while my WRX was being rebuilt. "We're sorry, but we cannot add a vehicle to your policy, unless you have a financial tie to the vehicle: co-owner, owner, etc. Your name needs to be tied to the vehicle, somehow, in order for it to be covered by your policy."Originally Posted by HxcJohnny
and yes, anyone can insure a car. you can have the car in your name, and your dad can have it covered with his insurance policy. you could have a policy out on your neighbors car if you wanted to.

I've got Erie Insurance, and pay about 1200/yr, for my wife's 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero, my 02 WRX (both full coverage) and a couple cars on Liability.
The windshield on my old Grand cherokee got a rock chip, and it cost me $50 to get it replaced, in my driveway. 2 weeks later, it was cracked again.. Another $50 and it was good as new again. no increase on premiums, yay!![]()

I thought this might be helpful for anyone concerned about insurance differences between WRX and STI. I traded in an 04 red WRX for a black 04 STI this past August and the premium only went up $15.00 for a 6 month period. I'm also 27 and a college grad...maybe different for other people. Ironically, I'm paying less than half of what I used to in a Ford Escort LX with SR22 DWI insurance after I got busted in 97. At least I learned that lesson early in life....wouldn't want to drive the STI 3 sheets to the wind![]()

-Ha ha, just curious because my dad pays about 400 a year for his saturn and he's in his 60's. I think it's great when I see older folks driving rexes....just kinda sux they hardly ever wave back.
I'm a 22 year old male who has insurance through state farm. Where I live is considered close to Philadelphia (which hurts the rates). I have a 06 WRX, with no accidents and 1 speeding ticket which I was told doesn't count against me. Originally I was paying 195/month, but then they gave me some additional discounts and now i pay around 2088 a year.
