Pulled the motor in old yellow......

I bought a heavily modified WRX out of AZ in Feb. Drove down and towed it home. Here are some pictures of the project. The old engine had a timing belt slip off and it bent some intake valves. I figured if I am going to pull the motor, why not replace with something a little beefier?

    Car:

    My friend JJ:

Here is what it looks like all clean/ running:

    Pulling the old engine:

It's apart, only has bent intake valves:

    AND NOW THE NEW!!

It took me several months to get it squared away (mostly due to my laziness), but the shortblock done now.

    - 2.2 Liter Turbo Legacy case, bored/sleeved
    - Darton ductile iron sleeves
    - US STi forged crank, balanced/polished/drilled for better oiling
    - Pauter Forged connecting rods
    - Ross forged pistons, moly coated skirts, swaintech gold coated tops
    - ACL race series bearings for mains and rods
    - ARP oversized head studs

About 3 hours...should have gone a lot quicker, but the up pipe/ external waste gate/ down pipe setup was designed horribly.

Correct......... found a DEAL on NASIOC and bought it.

Timing belt slipped off and he blew the motor. Maybe just bent valves (hoping), but we shall see.

Yes, I am keeping the front lip. It was cracked by the tow truck driver who picked up the previous owner after failure.
