    So many AP's for sale

I was browsing through the personal for sale and noticed about 8 v1 AP's for sale. I just thought it was funny becasue a couple months ago I was looking to buy one and would be lucky if one popped up once a week. Everyone wants that new AP and I dont blame them. That thing is the ****.

I actually think I will try to pick up a used v.1 in a few months. I don't really need all the new features and I'm hoping the prices will drop further.

I think that the v1 prices will see a good drop.

I wish they'd released V2 a few months ago. A discount for a used V1 would have been nice when I was in the market back in April.

Yep, soon it will become a buyer's market

To be honset, I don't see the need to pick up a new AP. Other than support, is there really a performance advantage?

The new features (and price) do nothing for me. If you just want the performance, pick up a used V1.

Bells and whistles and USB connectivity for those that are serial port challenged. As far as I know, there isn't anything new that would effect actual performance.

The only thing I would watch is that they say that they will be discontinuing support, meaning no new maps, in the near future. I guess that won't mean much if your getting custom tunes, but it would if you're relying on Cobb for maps and upgrades paths....

    $0.02

I don't think they will cut off the maps just yet. Also - in the case of the older maps, the off the shelf maps are about as aggressive as Cobb will let them be - they want things safe to please the masses, then they can leave it up to the customer to protune or streettuner as an option.

Companies have both a moral and a legal obligation to continue support for products that have been phased out for some predetermined length of time (in the computer world I believe it is 3 years). Cobb is a very reputable company so I'm sure they will do the right thing. If they didn't, it would be bad for future business.

It's probably already been noted, but directly from the updated AP faq at the Cobb site:

"Q: Will you still support the current AP?
A: Yes, the AP 1.0 will still be fully supported by Cobb."

So, looks to me like its still got a while before its completely gone.
