    87 octane?

Is 91 octane a absolute requirement for the wrx? i live at high altitude in the mountains and i hear it wont make a big difference if i was to use 87 instead is this true? A subaru tech said this would be fine to use 87 because of the high altitude. Just thought i would ask you guys for some input first. thanks!

are you REALLY thinking of risking it to save a $1.50 on a tank of gas? you should have bought a car that runs on 87 if you're really that worried about it.

Look at all the posts regarding detonation. Keep it on flat ground and under 4000 rpm and I would say sure, run 87.

here's the big secret that the big oil companies don't want you to know:

add 3 oz. of acetone to a gallon of urine, and you have a fuel that's the equlvalent to 95 octane gasoline.

now you just have to figure out where to get 15 gallons of urine a week....I think there are some German sites that can help with that.

The owner's manual and the cover over the filler says minimum 91 octane for a reason.

You could spend $300 and get a zero boost tune. That would probably let you run the cheap stuff. The engine has a static compression ratio of 8:1. Of course, you will lose all performance.

But if that's what you want, just go buy an Accent.

...so if the owner's manual or the cover over the filler said "go jump of a bridge..."

funny thing is, I'm about to sell my WRX for a V-8 Mustang...and it will SAVE ME MONEY ON GAS!!!

between the fact that it runs on 87 octane and the horrible milage a stage 2 WRX was getting (and about to get worse if I went stage 3), I will actually be saving gas by driving a V-8!
