Party foul? Or good to go?

So a couple of weeks ago I picked up a 2002 world rally blue wrx and it has the bbs factory silver rims on it. My only problem is I would love some gold rims to go with the blue paint job as that has always been my dream car ever since I was a kid. I saw a post where people just tape off the tires, get some sandpaper and rattle can the rims and they turn out really well from what I've seen. What are your thoughts on this? here's a picture of the rims and my car.

It works I've seen good results. I've also seen it turn to poo after some weather and brake heat. Have you considered looking at powder coating? More durable and can have a richer color.

Please do not paint those wheels.

Plastidip them if you want to change the color. Painting those wheels would be a tragedy.

Hahaha see this is why I post this. I don't want to do platidip because I'm not the biggest fan of how it turns out. How much are these rims worth? Is it worth selling and buying another set or trading or whatcha should I do?

Party Foul! Try putting them up for trade for these rims in gold or the other sti bbs rims that are more commonly in gold.

They retail for about $800 a wheel per Subaru Genuine Parts. What you do is fully up to you and your budget. Maybe sell them and get a set of STI Goldies if you want that traditional Subaru rally look. Or keep them and get a set of aftermarket gold wheels so you can switch up the style every now and then.

    Link to the SGP price.

My biggest concern is that I would need to do a trade with them, I can't just sell them and buy a new set of wheels because I don't have a set to be on in the mean time. Hmmmm decisions decisions. I really like the look of these I just wish they were gold. But I can't justify rattle canning $3k rims lol. That's like a third the price I paid for the entire car lol.

If you do the plastidip right, they will look good plasti-dipped. The reason you are seeing crap plasti-dip jobs is because most people half ass it. Do it right, and it will look good.

If you want to trade, I would say find a subaru f/s f/t facebook group in your local area and take it from there, I bet you can find somebody with a little work.
