Hey all, right now I'm looking into a 2015 WRX, but I am beginning to wonder what Subaru's time frame for year models looks like. I won't be looking to buy until around Christmas time, and I'm just trying to get a better picture of any foreseen changes people see coming for 2016 and things to be mindful of.
Right now a 2015 Premium is at the very top of my list.
not to be sarcastic(maybe just a little) but i see it changing to 2015 before the 16's come out. i might be wrong though since i am working on 15 domestic models already with 50,000 miles on them. what happened to september? when a vehicle made in 09 of XXXX year was technically the next model year, or not.
im getting to old for this lol. maybe the subaru santa will bring us the direct injected 2.5l for the STI's. *hopehope*
That's obvious, there's simple reasoning behind my question though. I want to know what Subaru's cycle for releasing new year models looks like. I plan on buying later in the year, and would like to know which quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) Subaru tends to release their new year models.
I just purchased a 2015 WRX about 2 weeks ago now. I'm roughly about 700 miles in on the car now and I love it. This is the very first Subaru I've owned. The car is honestly just a blast to drive!
I don't know how much more they could improve in the 2016 model, but the 15 is greatness! If you aren't in desperate need of a new car ASAP, then just wait it out.
Hope that helps!
Kyle
I've heard nothing but good things out of the new WRX's so far and the engine really has my attention as well. I have a good bit of experience training DI cars with tuning the '09 Cobalt SS that I own and Subaru's take on it has really caught my eye.

It appears that study’s styling could be implemented on the next-generation Impreza. According to company insiders, when the next Impreza launches in 2016 it will feature design cues from the concept, with the Subaru WRX that follows it also to get inspiration from the study.
Subaru chief designer Mamoru Ishii has hinted that the concept’s styling could in fact reach production in the next-generation Impreza, due to arrive in 2016. And as we all know, the Impreza serves as the basis of the WRX STI. Ishii stated that "Yes, we have taken the next-generation Impreza’s design in a new direction that we are sure will excite the marketplace. "We are planning to give the lower section below the hip line a wider, more substantial stance and narrow up the roof section." Ishii said. The next-generation Impreza will thus feature a bolder lower body and a more tapered greenhouse, similar to the WRX Concept.
Keep in mind that there is about a 3 month lead time when you order a WRX... The waiting for mine drove me nuts. That means you would want to order in September to make sure it was there by Christmas.
they usually start selling the next year of vehicle sometime around apr/may. So 15's started sometime around then and 16's will start around then next year. I work in the RV industry and they start even earlier than the car industry. I think I had 15's in by march of this year for the rv brands.
