    Some Noob Questions

    Hi All,

New to this forum and just bought my car. Some quick noob questions:

    1) I like the 5 speed Subaru Aluminum shift knob on this site: SUBARU | WRX STI / WRX | ACCESSORIES | INTERIOR
Any cheap way to order it from the state?

2)Cargo tray and factory subwoofer....is that possible to have both? (already got the sub)

3)ar came with an SPT exhaust (somewhat loud). Is that normal? Fiance says its a bit too loud when I turn it on in the garage. Came from a 2012 TSX so there is a big difference.

4)I want to plug in my radar detector into the auto dim mirror circuit. Anyone have a diagram for that so I dont get my ground wrong?

    5) Anyone have a good brand for back up camera? Got a Pioneer NAV deck and feel like it would be good to have one.

    6) How can you tell there is a short shifter inside (Super noob question) besides driving it.

    Thanks!

How do you order a shift knob from the state?

SPT hatch exhaust is known to be a bit droning. It is normal...its supposed to be louder, as most aftermarket CBEs are. Tell fiance to deal with it because racekar. Or find someone selling a stock one and swap/sell SPT. I personally like louder.

As for autodimming mirror...Never done it, but electronics are simple: positives and negatives. Chances are it really only has 3 wires at most. Power, ground, illumination (if it needs it). If no illumination, it will only have two. White or some other color that isn't black (red or green or something like that) will be the power. Illumination usually will be orange/yellow/or black with a colored line. Black will be the ground. Same goes for the wires in the radar detector. Splice accordingly.

    Hey thanks for the responses!

Mikie13- The only place I can get that shift knob is from the UK at 130 bucks. Is there a dealer in the US that could sell that?

    Maybe check subarugenuineparts.com?

A popular place for good shiftknobs is Welcome to WC Lathe Werks -- I Build Truly Unique Shift Knobs. Proudly Hand-Crafted in The USA! - WC Lathe Werks | Truly Unique Shift Knobs, Proudly Hand-Crafted in The USA! as well. I've had 4 knobs from them over the years (including the very first 350z knob they ever produced, at my request) and they are just awesome.
