My Outback has an amber "DRL" light that is illuminated whenever the daytime lights are on (which is 100% of the time). Are you saying that would be a fail? It certainly looks like a warning light, but just indicates they're turned on.

Solution: Move. Zero inspections here, FTMFW!

It's an information light (such as one for the headlight, which I doubt they'll fail you for). If they are that picky then turn it back off for the testing.

I don't like the rev hang in first gear. Very annoying! The exhaust also has a lound drone at idle when the AC is on. Can be a pain when sitting at a long red light.

    This.

I don't have that problem where I live.

I doubt there DLR counts as a "warning" indicator (like the headlight on indicator or high beam indicator lights) but even if so.. it/they should turn off when the E-Brake is pulled. (and then the "E-Brake indicator light would be on lol)
Maryland is a crappy state with more laws than common sense but I doubt that would typically fail people for normal indicator lights.

No inspections where I live either

Hmm, these are good questions. The rule is "any illuminated warning lamp," but who decides what is a warning lamp and what is an information lamp? I suppose this is only for safety equipment (brake fluid level, airbags, CEL). But then I suppose one could argue that "hill-assist" is safety equipment...

I would argue that it's more of a convenience feature. The correct technique on a hill is to use the hand brake, then release once you have found the biting point when it's time to move. Hill assist allows you to be lazy and use a technique which would cause you to fail your driving test in Europe. What if the guy ahead was rolling back, and your car held when the brake was released? That's another reason why I would not consider it to be a safety feature. Damn, I must remember to turn mine off now

Guy in front of you rolling back shouldn't be a problem unless you sit there in gear with your foot on the clutch the entire time. I personally have had no issues with hill assist, I like it for the conveniance.

Typically people start rolling back at the point where they start moving. I tend to get into gear as I see two or three cars in front start to move.

I disabled the hill-assist on my car yesterday. After my many many years of not having it and not stalling I found the feature quite annoying. Going to try this for a while and see what happens.

The position of the rear wiper doesn't allow the blade to swipe where I usually look through the mirror. That, and I can't find the switch to turn it on. Pretty annoying...

Lol... Sort of a round about way of saying you wish they offered a rear wiper
