Another thing to add to the list is the rear tow cover. I've noticed it a few times during my wash/wax cycle. Definitely a different color than the rest of the car.

Mine doesn't look like the original picture. I have a rather elegant looking cover over the former ignition hole. Perhaps yours didn't get the cover. I'll post a picture when I see the car in daylight.

I do have the cover. I referred to it as the plug in the original post. It does not look bad. I was more pissed that it feels like an after thought. Seems like they used the original part (that was supposed to have a key start), and then just covered it up. Not what I expected from a 30,000+ car.

I understand what your saying when you spend x amount, you expect more. I can totally empathize. On the other hand, I believe keyless is a port added option so I seriously doubt they even have other parts available/made without the ignition hole. Plus the more parts that Subaru can have the relatively low volume selling WRX share with the more econobox Impreza, the easier it is for Subaru to keep the cost down. Keeping costs down let's them have more money for things like active torque vectoring while keeping the price relatively low.
The latest gen is more a separation then any previous gen USDM models IMHO.. but you really can't escape the fact that our cars are still and always have been based on cheap econoboxes. As I eluded to though if they weren't, Subaru wouldn't be able to offer our cars at all. (At least not at the relatively attractive price points they do).

For perspective, my 2004 STi didn't even come with a Radio. For get keyless, bluetooth, steering. Wheel controls, etc, etc. lol. If you really want to see some cheap looking interiors, go back and look at the early USDM WRX models lol

It's really more the fact that I drove manual without hill assist for 15 years, then Hill assist throws a curve ball into the mix.

This x10000 except I have only driven manual for 7 years.

15 years? I haven't even had my license for 15 years.

I have had my license for 40 years and so far hill assist has not caused me to kill the engine. I've had every manner of manual transmission since my first car a 1971 Datsun 510.

I'm pretty sure you can turn hill assist off. Check the manual.

You can. But then you're presented with a dash light that stays on and forces you to fail emissions testing.
