    Regarding the CVT

Subaru of America has no Fn clue if it the same one that comes in the diesel version overseas. You think they would know, and if bey didnt then could easily find the answer.

I ended up getting this, as a response:

    Dear Mr. Douche:

Thank you for contacting Subaru of America, Inc. We appreciate you taking time out of your day to contact us.

We welcome your contact, as it relates to the CVT transmission in your Subaru WRX. Your email has reached Subaru of America, Inc. We manufacture vehicles for sale in the United States only. We know that Subaru is sold in other countries, however, we do not have any specs on those vehicles for a comparison.

We do apologize that we cannot be of more assistance. Have a great day!

I just found it odd that this was an impossible question to answer. However, I will continue my search until I find the answer.

That's not surprising though. SOA doesn't sell non-US models. Companies that do are not related to SOA.

Its still Subaru though. You think it would be pretty easy for them to find out.

    Regarding the CVT

The other companies would be competitors if it were not for import and distribution agreements. There is no further relationship of which I'm aware. The cars may as well be labeled something else rather than Subaru for all it matters.

Reverse example: the Forester was sold as a Chevrolet in IN. Asking SOA about that model would be as enlightening as asking US Chevrolet. Neither will care.

Contact FHI in JP; they make most Subaru cars and may answer -- though they'd have no reason to answer since you're not a customer.

Another thought: attempt to order the part in two different countries and compare PNs.

Aren't the drivetrains made in Japan though? Same way Toyota has deals with distributors here. They send parts here and slap a made in America sticker on it lol.

Then you might contact a dealer in a country that uses a language you speak and sells the car with the CVT that interests you, and see if they'll give you a part number also.

Even if they do so though, a negative result (no match) won't prove the CVTs are different. A positive result would be more conclusive (it's probably less likely the same PN is used to describe two different CVTs).

Got the trans numbers while at the dealer and now need to find the contact in order to confirm or deny this possibility.
