    14 or 15?

Hi new to the forum and have a question. Love the looks of the hatch but everything I read the 15 is superior in every way. For those that have owned the previous generation is the 15 really that much better? I'm not really sold on the 15 looks but I love the looks and versatility of the hatch. I would go for the 15 if it's really that much better. Any input would be great

This is just from what I have heard: From those who have upgraded from the old gen (2011-2014) to the new 2015, whether it be a WRX or STi, have surely not been disappointed. Most feel major differences from the get go and all in a good way. I believe Zax would be a great person to tune in on this one. He has been ALL over the new 2015's since the unveiling and purchased a 2015 STI the moment Subaru would let him.

It really all depends on what you want the car for. The 11-14 hatch's are great for hauling stuff, and tons of room in them, and I personally love the more aggressive wide-body look of the body style. I too do not car for the corolla look of the new 15's. But the new generation does shine in places where the older wrx lacks. I'd say the biggest upgrade is the new 6-speed transmission. The 5-speed's have always been a haunting factor in the older generations and can be a let down whenever you are making big power. Besides the tansmission they have stiffened up the entire car and is more planted than the previous generation.

However, if function and practicality are importmant to you, its hard to beat the versatility of the hatch's. And with a few hundred dollars you can beef up your suspension (i.e. sway bars, endlinks, and bushings) to be better than the new wrx. My advise to you would be go test drive a hatch, then test drive the new 15. Whichever one stands out to you more, buy it. Really cant go wrong with either, they both have their pro's and con's.

Let's put it this way: the 2015 WRX drives better than the 2014 STi.

    It really is THAT GOOD.

Thanks for the replies. I think the best thing would be to test drive both if i can back to back and see which one i prefer. Hopefully i can find a dealer that has both. I'm coming from a 11 MINI S.

I took a test drive in a 2014 first which I thought drove great, then the salesman let me take a 2015 for a spin. The 2015 got my money!

Let me put it another way: the 15 WRX outhandles an Evo X, which was leaps and bounds better than the previous gen STI.

I wouldn't go THAT far. Though the Evo X and the 2015 STi are very close.

Yeah, it's pushing it to suggest the WRX is up with the Evo. Having driven both I'd say the Evo X is for sure better. I haven't driven the new STI yet to compare.
