Driving Impessions and Observations on 2015 WRX

This will be a thread to give my opinions on the 2015 WRX.
I have one week of driving under my belt, picked it up 4/14/2014,and now have 350 miles on the odometer.
    Exterior:
I like the new nose and the rear taillights/quad exhaust.I have the SPT carbon strip on the rear trim piece.I also added a matching carbon fiber license plate frame.Viewed from the side it could be any of a dozen cars, and I hate those big bulky side mirrors attached to the door. Also the bottom of the mirror should be painted body color.
The grey wheels look good in person, better than the pictures, but I'm thinking gold OZ or Enkeis eventually. The Lightning red looks great, still getting used to it after 14 years of black cars, but I have had nothing but compliments on the car from other drivers.

This is a base model WRX with a few options. It has the homelink compass mirror, all weather floor mats, trunk mat, aluminum side sills, armrest extension, and carbon fiber trunk trim.
It's longer than my bugeye wagon and the doors are larger and open wider.

    Interior:
The seats have less bolstering than the bugeye, don't feel as secure in them as the old seats.Nice lumbar support and adjustable forward tilt on the headrest is good.
The seats seem to sit up higher than the bugeye, but I was able to get a real nice position with the telescoping wheel.I'm only 5'5" so I need to sit close to work the pedals. The wheel is nice and thick, and has the flat bottom, pretty slick.
Noticably larger rear seat,a couple of inches more rear leg room back there.60/40 rear split seatbacks and a large trunk. No wagon for sure, but plenty of space none the less.
Soft touch dash surfaces look good, and I like the fake carbon fiber, although I know a lot of people do not.
Cupholders in center console, bottle holders in doors, standard issue now.Armrest extesion works but does me no good as I'm sitting too far forward for my elbow to rest on it.
Stereo is typical Subaru, just crappy. It plays, that's about all I can say about it.If you want a good one swap it out.The free XM satellite is cool, never had it before,I will enjoy Ozzy's Boneyard free for 3 months.
Guages sweep on start and have a nice red glow, which will be ideal for night driving. The center stack gauge, with all the different settings and screens is great. They are fully customizeable, but I haven't played around with them much yet.
HVAC controls are easily accsessed via the 3 large rotary knobs and it has auto AC,which I never had on a car before.
Steering wheel has radio, and cruise control buttons at your fingertips. The homelink mirror was easily set to open both garage doors.

All my comparisons are going to be against my 2003 wagon, which had approx 253HP,and a heavily modified street suspension setup.I have never driven a 2.5L WRX or STi.
First off,a nitpick, but the key is a little balky going into the ignition, which is annoying.
Right out of the box,the 2015 has a great suspension, equal to my old modified wagon.A little more supple, yet with no body roll to speak of.It powers out of the corners like it's on rails, with tons of grip.
The electric steering is light at low speeds, then tightens up nicely as you go faster.Lock to lock,it's much quicker and better feeling than the bugeye. It has a great on-center feel and road feel.
Power wise the car feels about as fast as the bugeye, with the big difference being the turbo spools up at 2500RPM,much quicker than the 4000RPM in the old motor. This is great for around town driving as the power is down low where it's more usable. But so far, seat of the pants,it doesn't feel a lot quicker than the bugeye, but the car does weigh a couple of hundred pounds more.
The shifts are short and notchy in a good mechanical feeling way, although the height of the shifter could be lower. This car was not equipped with the short shifter kit like my old car.First gear is real short, especially when I'm only going to 4000RPM during the break in.It's almost an instantaneous shift into second, you can easily get this car going from a stop in second gear.I'm still not very smooth shifting from 1st to 2nd because the clutch take up and throttle tip in is so much different from the old car.I will master this with more time behind the wheel.
The brakes feel good with good initial bite, stops were fast and solid,at least for street driving.
The car sounds quiet to me,I can barely hear the exhaust note,no boxer rumble, which is odd.I had a prodrive muffler on the old car and loved that sound.I hear mostly wind and tire noise in this car.
I'll have a better feel for overall performance once I really start to whack the throttle after the break in period. So overall I give it a thumbs up.For street driving you won't have to touch this suspension, maybe some springs to eliminate a little of the wheel gap. Turbo lag is minimal on this engine and the steering is nice and tight, good job overall by Subaru. Now,where's the wagon.

I want a rally blue WRX Limited so badly I can taste it. Also, give me full body under spoiler, short shifter, footwell lighting, auto-dimming mirror and possibly performance exhaust.....but thats just me.
