you should've got a radar detector. if it saves you once it pays for itself.

WTF? Why is there a "special database" - they have legitimate ways to tag you if that is supported and necessary. It is like he thinks he has the prerogative to find you guilty of reckless driving for simply speeding (<20 over) all on his own. So you believe the car itself was being targeted due to this? I'd still think in rush hour you'd have to do something to get their attention to even check the tag.

I had cops sitting one street over watching me coming and going for 2 weeks I thought the cop that pulled me over was just saying that. I can say they went out of the way to track me to many things don't add up.

The best radar detector is your eyes... but the combination of both a radar detector and your eyes is deadly. Don't think that a radar detector prevents all tickets, because when that radar detector is going off that means the cop already knows your speed. Unless, of course, it is picking up a stray signal or refractions but that goes into more advanced radar detector use and knowledge. You can easily avoid speeding tickets by being extremely aware of you surroundings, or by simply just not speeding very much.

If I was your wife I would have bought you a radar detector and a dash cam that records your speed...and then make you pick up the extra insurance costs until you've proven yourself a good boy again.

And I'd be recommending to your husband to look for a new wife.

its nice insurance. I have a escort 8500 I bought 3yrs ago for $250. Its saved me numerous times. A speeding ticket in California is around $250-350.00 depending on the county plus paying the court fee for traffic school and paying for traffic school itself. Hence my statement if it saves you once it, paid for itself. A radar detector can't protect you all the time, but can alert you when you miss something or unaware. I think its worth the $250 investment, especially with our cars, they look like there going fast standing still.

Who do you think the cop is going to pull over? you in the wrx going 75mph or the mom in the camry going 80 mph.

    ^This.

Sorry, but I can't follow your wife's logic either. Getting a different car doesn't change the fact that someone has a lead foot.

While I don't intend to speak for them, I think the idea was that the particular car had become a target because of being entered in some database based on the first infraction. Getting tickets for 6mph over and all the while others are flying by is not something that I have happen to me. The appearance of a car additionally does in fact enter into the discretionary process of many LEO, just as drivers themselves are profiled each and every day. Where I don't exactly see the logic is that q50 isn't the most low profile Camry I ever saw, and it seems unclear whether he is the one in the database (which will carry over to the new car most likely) or whether it was the car.

Of course, it's possible he's a habitual speeder who speeds well in excess of the speed limit...haha
