    Subaru STI/Sub Division Future??

    Interesting News:

A spokesman from Subaru’s Japanese parent company says in-house tuner STI may evolve into a performance sub-division in the future to rival Nissan’s Nismo sports arm.

Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) corporate communications spokesman Masato Saito said creating a family of high-performance STI variants positioned at the top of a number of model lines was “a good idea”.

“In the future, [there is] some possibility,” Saito revealed.

He said Subaru had no concrete plans to launch an STI sub-division at this stage, however, suggesting it would continue to focus on the WRX STI and some limited edition ‘tuned by STI’ variants of other models.

I think they're saying that they're turning from a MOPAR + 1 model of STI into something like SRT has. The SRT Jeep, charger, challenger, truck, caliber, etc.

I think they're just trying to stress the point that they might start making more higher end sportier STI variants that can compete with Nismo editions / maybe even GTR status cars? To do this, they would sort of branch STI (NISMO) from STI I assume.

SRT is technically a separate manufacturing division. Not just a package. I'm thinking that's what they're doing. Legacy STI Forester STI, Crosstrek STI (I would buy if it had off-roading capability!!)

Yeah, what I'm saying is STI is probably going to make a sub division of STI that will focus on higher end development. Not just STI versions of other models. Though that BRZ STI is something nasty.
